I was sending a box to Sri Lanka and took the option of home delivery. I was a little skeptical whether everything in the box would reach the party in Sri Lanka. Well the box was delivered and everything in the box was intact . I was really thrilled and I am getting ready to do it again soon. Thanks Jude for reassuring me that the people in Sri Lanka handling the boxes are honest and does a great job. They sure did!!!!!!! thanks chitra k

This is a tiny store that sells Sri Lankan specialties in a strip mall that also has a yogurt shop and a Del Taco on the corner of Vanowen and Balboa Blvds. It is not a grocery store, as they do not have any fresh produce or other food, so everything is prepackaged (cans, jars, bags, whatever) or frozen or ready to prepare (rice, beans, etc.) and lots of snacks. They also sell some other things, such as a small selection of Sri Lankan CDs and DVDs. When I'm in the neighborhood, I'll stop and purchase coconut sambol (jar), Agro mix badun (snack in jar), or from the frozen section, string hoppers (appa), fish buns, fish roti, vegetable roti, koththu, seeni sambol buns, (buns with onion, chili, curry leaves, cinnamon, ginger, garlic, and leaves) and lentil balls (parippu vada with green sambol). It's all been good so far, and the guy who runs the place is extremely kind and occasionally gives suggestions on preparation ("The vegetable roti package says to warm it in the microwave, but it tastes better if you heat it in the microwave, then put it in the toaster oven for a little while first"). All the frozen stuff I've mentioned so far has been delicious. However, they have also been rather spicy, which I personally like, but I feel I should mention as a heads up. For instance, my girlfriend eats Indian food with no problem but found the coconut sambol that I doused on my string hoppers as well as the vegetable rotis to be way too spicy for her. If you peeps are interested in Sri Lankan goodies, definitely stop by here. I encourage you to patronize this establishment if for no other reason than to keep it in business so I can stop by when I'm in this neck of the woods. :D
